I always complain about the issues with posting from China, you would think I would jump on it and do a million once I got back to the states....alas this has not been the case, obviously, since I have been here two weeks and this is the first I have even looked at my blog. I even forgot I put those peonies in my photo at the top! Sorry for my negligence for those who continue to read....
I have been very busy since arriving on these shores on the 15th of June. We were supposed to get here on the 14th but the rain that has plagued the East Coast all Spring greeted us when we landed in Newark. We ended up with an 8 hour layover instead of 4 which got us into Albany very late. My brother, Fletcher, picked us up and took us to his house. He lives considerably closer to the airport than my parents, and he seems to be able to stay up later than them:) Anyway we got in after midnight, hence the 15th!
I jumped right in despite jet lag and difficulty adjusting to the 12 hour time difference.
I have been busy doing weeding in the gardens and helping my father split wood.......a lot of wood! We have run out of woodsheds so I am not sure what we will do now. There is still more and more wood! More weeds too!!
I got back about an hour ago from taking Olivia to the airport. (That means I got up at 4:45 am) She is on her way to a 2 week course at Virginia Tech. It is a girls only course for 40 girls interested in STEP.
What you may ask is STEP?
Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
They have to apply, write an essay and answer a long survey about why they want to go and what they hope to get out of it. She got in, one of out of over 120 applicants!! Way to go Olivia!!! And she just got her SAT scores back from June 1 and scored an 800 on the math portion!!! Looks like she is headed in the right direction:)
Next on my list is to finish the quilt of the blocks I showed in my last post. I showed it to the five year old recipient, she seemed to like it, time will tell. I also have a small sweater I am trying to finish before I head back to China......I can't keep bringing things to work on here and then just taking them back in their still unfinished state....I just can't!
Tomorrow we, my parents and I are heading out to Indiana for a few days. Pile in the car and drive for 14 hours...or more. We have to stop a bunch of times because my father gets too stiff he doesn't move around on a regular basis. We will actually take two days to get there so they don't get worn out.
Now I will post a picture or two so you might want to come back and read what has been going on in our lives in China.
Olivia, me and the cats on the couch.
Just an ordinary day at our house. Come back later for more exciting stuff:)
Love, fondly, sincerely,
Zaijian,
Ramona
